EPDM
stands for Ethylene-Propylene-Dyne-Monomer. Basically it’s a
synthetic rubber roofing material that is manufactured specifically
for flat roofs.
EPDM has been in the UK
for a pretty long time, but it is only until the last few years that
it is now becoming a very popular choice for waterproofing flat
roofs in the residential market.
EPDM has many benefits
over other systems. These being; very flexible-elongates to 300%,
resistant to UV, long life span, can be used to overlay old roofs
(subject to a structurally sound deck) does not crack or perish and
very environmentally friendly. These key points are everything that
property owners in the UK are looking for.
 Firestone
EPDM was developed in the
states back in the
80’s; in fact the
oldest Firestone roof was installed in 1980 and is still in service
today. A true
test of time, with a proven track record.
With the climate we
have in the UK, from ice cold winters to sometimes hot weather,
a
roofing product needs to be able to perform to these two extremes.
Again Firestone EPDM has already been put to the test, as
commercially it has been installed in Alaska at -45 up to 130
degrees plus in the Middle East. So as you see, the UK climate is
no problem for EPDM.
Our EPDM carries a 20
year membrane warranty.
